Luigi Romano


Prof. Luigi Romano is currently a Full Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Naples “Parthenope”.

Luigi Romano’s research interests are in dependability (performance/performability, reliability, availability, safety, and security) of computing systems. He is/has been engaged in fruitful collaborations with several foreign and national reserch centers, both in the accademia and in industry, and in particular: the Center for Reliable and High-Performance Computing (CRHC) of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Illinois, USA), the Centro Ricerche Innovative per il Sud (CRIS) of Ansaldo Trasporti, some CNR institutes (CNUCE, IET, ICAR), the Dipartimento di Sistemi e Informatica of the University of Florence, the Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell’Informazione of the Second University of Naples. Particularly active is the collaboration with Prof. R.K. Iyer, which also consists of programs for researcher and student mobility between the University of Naples Federico II and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prof. Iyer is one of the world top reserchers in dependable computing. Luigi Romano has been involved, with different roles, in a number of research projects, funded by Italian Ministries and by the European Community, as well as in technology transfer projects and industry-funded research projects in the ICT field. Luigi Romano is/has been serving in the Program Committees of several international conferences in the field of dependable computing. In particular, he is a member of the International Symposium on Dependable Systems and Networks (DSN – http://www.dsn.org/) Program Committee. DSN is universally recognized as the world topmost forum of dependable computing research.
